What’s actually happening

The transition to motherhood is one of life’s most complex and lifealtering changes. While it can certainly bring joy, it is also common for new mothers to experience the effects of postpartum anxiety, depression, and OCD. Roughly 1 in 5 new mothers will experience a Perinatal Mood or Anxiety Disorder, but 100% of these disorders are treatable with the right support.

How therapy helps

Perinatal therapy can help by giving you the space that you need to figure out what being a good mom looks like for you. We often don’t realize until after the baby is here that the transition to motherhood can be filled with more grief, anxiety, or overwhelm than expected and moms can have a difficult time sharing that with those around them. Therapy creates a safe space for you to process the real life stressors that come from caring for a baby and the strain it can put on your relationships.

My approach

As a mom myself, I understand that there are many layers to maternal mental health. My primary goal is to get you feeling functional and stable again. I work to support you in feeling grounded and healthy in the day-to-day so you can feel confident in motherhood and enjoy this unique season of life. Once you feel ready, we can dive deeper into what this transition to motherhood has brought up and how it is impacting you. My approach is attachment-based and trauma-informed, taking into account the psychological and physiological challenges that often accompany complex birth experiences.

What this work can lead to

This work can lead to more clarity and peace in your transition to motherhood, less shame and self-criticism in potential struggles during this period of life, feeling more like yourself again, and a supportive space centered around you as you spend the majority of your time pouring into others.

You don’t have to navigate this season on your own.
