EMDR & Trauma Therapy

in the East Valley

For patterns of disconnection and reactivity that feel hard to understand or change.

You might be experiencing

  • Strong emotional reactions that feel hard to control
  • A sense that past experiences may still be impacting you
  • Patterns of shutting down or becoming anxious when overwhelmed
  • Having a difficult time changing relationship patterns even with increased insight
  • Having a difficult time trusting yourself and others and feeling safe in relationships

What’s actually happening

Trauma comes in many forms, and difficult experiences that aren’t fully processed in the brain can impact how we think, feel, and respond, especially in close relationships. Whether Big T Trauma, such as major life-altering events, or complex trauma, such as continued exposure to highly distressing, emotionally damaging environments or relationships, with evidence-based support you can reach a sense of safety in your mind and body again.

How therapy helps

Targeted trauma therapy such as EMDR or Internal Family Systems-informed Therapy can help you understand not just the pattern of behaviors that impact your life, but why. Our nervous systems learn to adapt to dangerous environments to prioritize our survival both physically and relationally and these patterns of survival can become the blueprint for how we navigate daily life and relationships in adulthood. Trauma therapy can help you process experiences that feel stuck, build a greater sense of emotional safety, decrease reactivity, and feel more connected to yourself and others.

My approach

My approach is relational and attachment-focused and may incorporate approaches such as Family Systems-informed therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help you process experiences that feel stuck or unresolved. As you begin to process these distressing experiences, they may begin to feel less intense allowing you to feel more grounded and at peace in your everyday life.

What this work can lead to

Over time, this work can lead to a greater ability to regulate your emotions, decreased reactivity and more secure connection in relationships, and feeling less stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. You deserve to feel secure and whole. Trauma Therapy can help.
